Under Pressure

AGS Fantasy Football 2023 Week 12.

The playoffs are right around the corner, and several AGS contenders are still vying for a shot at the 2023 crown.

Every win matters when you’re twelve weeks deep into the fantasy football season. One win pushes some teams closer to the first goal on any fantasy football owner’s agenda: make the playoffs. One win also pushes some teams further away from last place, where in our league (as has been mentioned weekly on the podcast) finishing in last place means you get your team’s name and logo changed to something offensive enough to get you cancelled.

No one wants that, which is why the final two weeks of this Any Given Sunday football season will be full of drama, curses, cusses, and perhaps a couple of friendships being put on ice until the pain of a knockout punch has been numbed out of existence.

Penthouse Pimps, The Curse, The Quan, and NJC were all so grateful for their Week 12, Thanksgiving holiday wins, for their playoff dreams are still alive and well as the world turns its attention towards holiday cheer and the promise of a happier and healthier 2024. Perhaps one of these winners will be the last team standing when the ball drops on New Year’s Day.

Rebel Scum and Whose (sic) Coming in Second got crucial wins to better their odds of finishing gutter adjacent, but these two bottom feeding teams still have to win a game or two to completely avoid season-long embarrassment and demoralization.

The pressure is building to critical levels, and it’ll only get worse once the first couple of teams to clinch their playoff spot do so in Week 13 while the fringe teams pray to the fantasy gods for a miracle. We are a cursed lot, but it’s how you have to play the game of thrones at the end of the season, on any given Sunday, where you either win or you die.

We have another diesel show this week. Yours truly (Rebel Scum) is joined by the still but maybe soon-not-to-be defending champ, Ambassadors of Quan, and 2021 AGS champ, The Sugandese, as he makes a return to the show. We look back at Week 12 in AGS and talk about the upcoming playoffs; explore Filipino heritage; speculate about Travis Kelce’s impending marriage to Taylor Swift and subsequent retirement from the NFL, and discuss upscale prostitution in professional sports.
