YouTube Class with Habie147

“Just a smoothbrain.” Habie147 on Twitter @habie147

There has been a great shift in YouTubers recently.

The pandemic has forged new content creators at a rapid pace. The vast majority are inconsiderate pricks, pranking and panicking people like punks; a few, like Habie147 are changing this narrative with a long-forgotten virtue nearly extinct in social media: integrity.

The desolate and seemingly monotonous boredom of the quarantine quagmire we have all found ourselves in has been a challenging obstacle to overcome. Thankfully, I am fortunate enough to have first world problems. My one true struggle was finding a half hour worth watching on Netflix, to no avail. Then, I had an epiphany; instead of using YouTube to watch Cats and Karen’s, maybe check out this dude who wishes his viewers “a great day no matter who or where they are”. Down the rabbit hole I went, and what I discovered was a welcome surprise, a YouTuber I did not want to throw down a well.

Habie147 reviews VR games and streams on Discord with his rapidly increasing fanbase. One of the best parts of his videos is that they are entertaining, genuine, and funny. A current trend on YouTube is the proliferation of content creators who sensationalize their channel by being completely over the top with their reactions and emotions. Watching their videos is akin to playing a soundtrack of a five-year-old being forced through a haunted house while being beaten with two-week old baguettes. I challenge anyone over the age of 30 to sit through Lanky Box without running for the razors after five minutes. Do not get me wrong, the guys of Lanky Box work hard and produce regular content. Even though they produce it in a manner that I cannot stand, they are wildly successful with a certain demographic, and I shouldn’t knock it, but I know what I like, and it’s not that. Habie147 creates content that is organic, and his narrative throughout is one of genuine fun, a perfect blend of informative entertainment. Have a look for yourself.

Virtual Reality is not for everyone. In fact, most people do not have a high-end headset or PC that can play the latest titles. Habie147 does, and it's thanks to his fan base that has been steadily growing to nearly 500K subscribers. A true artist reinvests in himself whenever he can and treats his audience the way he would his own friends. Habie147 has been churning out content since September 27th, 2019, and his humble beginnings led to a steady bump in views when he began wading in the vast pool that is Virtual Reality. A great example of who the creator is and what their content is like can be found in one of his early hits where he builds his entire house to scale inside Minecraft VR. A stellar mind is hard at work. VR was touted as the main nerve that would connect humanity far and wide, but Habie147 is performing tasks that are of true concern to us, the happy few.

Had it not been for Habie147, I would be unaware of the great strides that VR has made over the years. Plenty of great YouTube channels cover video games and the industry itself. YongYea’s channel is one of the best, no-nonsense YouTuber’s. His content covers the video game industry like an investigative reporter, and its absolute bliss; but when I want more than facts, I always look for any content drops from Habie147. Honesty and humor are what you will find when you go through his channel, and you will leave happier than you arrived.

The most admirable part of Habie147 is the way he ends each of his videos by thanking his audience and wishing them the best wherever they may be. All of us could stand to take a page out of Habie147’s book when it comes to this kind of mutual respect and compassion. That sentiment goes a long way with me, and his audience is cut from the same cloth. It is great to see a community enjoy themselves in Discord as they wait for their favorite YouTuber to start streaming. Habie147 works hard and puts a ton of effort into his videos, any reader who wants to support this kind-hearted content creator can pick up his merch at The SmoothStore

Tip of the hat to old Habie147 for making this damned planet bearable, and a salute to his audience for being a rowdy and reputable bunch. Entertainment is hit or miss these days, but there are still stellar beacons of hope that can be found in familiar places. When you need to pass the time, do so in good company, lend your eyes and ears to humble YouTuber Habie147; and if the smoothest brain of them all fails to delight – you have too many wrinkles.
