AGS Fantasy Football 2023 Playoffs: Round 2

It’s AGS Super Bowl week!

If your fantasy football team is still alive at this point in the season, congratulations! You’ve made all the right moves to get you this far, and you only need one or two more wins to lock up your league’s title. These are exciting times.

In the Any Given Sunday fantasy football league, this upcoming week is Super Bowl week, and this year’s title clash features last year’s champion, Ambassadors of Quan, squaring off against New Jax City (NJC) in a rematch of the 2020 AGS Super Bowl. Mad props to both Lou Gray and Brandon Citrin for being AGS playoff staples for the last several years. Each of these owners has been in one of the last five Super Bowls. As I previously mentioned, they met in 2020, when NJC bested Quan for his first title, and they’ll meet again this week, where one of these dudes will grab his second AGS title in the last three seasons. Remarkable stuff, gentlemen.

Round 2 of the AGS playoffs signaled the end of the line for The Curse and Rudy’s Replacements. Hungry for that elusive third title, owner Joey Bryant can’t seem to break through the semifinal wall. There’s no doubt that he’ll bring another terrifying squad into the 2024 season, but that’s a summer away.

Meanwhile, America’s team, Rudy’s Replacements, shat the bed in his first playoff game since Trump was in office. Speaking from plenty of playoff bed-shitting experience, I know it’s a tough pill to swallow when you’ve worked hard to manage your roster through injuries and underperforming players, had luck on your side throughout the season when you needed it most, and started to believe that this might actually be your season only to watch it go up in flames without much of a fight. Next August feels light years away.

The Curse and Rudy still have third place and a bit of prize money to battle each other for; it’s not the fight they wanted, but it’s the one they got. They’ll scrap it out this week, but all eyes will be on the Quan and New Jax City in the 2023 AGS Super Bowl—the main event.

Oh yeah! There was a consolation final last week, and I lost to The Sugandese. Congratulations to owner Cinque Gales on yet another playoff win over Rebel Scum.

He joins me, the Frogs, and New Jax City to discuss his success this season, his upcoming Super Bowl matchup, and the secret to his success in AGS. I’ll give you a hint; he’s part French, which means he has an affinity for frogs.

We’ll also run down the worst #1 seeds in AGS playoff history, and we’ll ruffle a few feathers along the way because it’s fun.

This is the Any Given Sunday podcast.
